In the town centre, visit the excellent museum, the recently renovated Metropole Conference and Cultural Centre (The Met), a former Victorian theatre, and St. Michael’s Church, home to John Selway’s stunning series of new works, based on the passion story.
St Illtyd’s, one of south Wales oldest churches sits above Abertillery with wonderful views over the town and the valleys.
The town is only 35 minutes from Cardiff by car and 15 minutes from the World Heritage
site at Blaenafon, where former Abertillery miners are underground guides at the
magnificent Big Pit.
